Frequently asked questions
How do I connect HealthKit?
On first launch, the app requests permission to read Blood Glucose from HealthKit. Go to Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices → Diabetic Alert Dog Log to manage permissions at any time. The app reads only; it never writes to HealthKit.
Why isn't my CGM reading showing?
The app reads Blood Glucose from HealthKit. Your CGM app (Dexcom, Libre Link, etc.) must be configured to share Blood Glucose data with HealthKit. Check that app's settings and confirm the data is appearing in the iOS Health app before logging an alert.
How does the accuracy/sensitivity calculation work?
For each alert event, the app looks up the CGM reading at the moment of the alert. It calculates true alerts (glucose outside your target range), false positives (glucose in range), and missed events (a glucose excursion occurred but no alert was recorded). Sensitivity = true alerts ÷ (true alerts + missed events).
How do I export a report for my endocrinologist?
Go to Reports → Export PDF. Select a date range and choose whether to include the CGM overlay chart. The PDF shows a timeline of alerts against CGM values, accuracy metrics, and a summary table you can hand directly to your care team.
How do I back up or move to a new phone?
Your data syncs automatically via iCloud. Sign in with the same Apple ID on your new device, install the app, and your data will appear. You can also export a JSON backup from Settings → Export Data for a local copy.
How do I restore my purchase?
Go to Settings → Restore Purchases. This contacts Apple and restores any purchase tied to your Apple ID. If you still have trouble, contact support@handlerlabs.app.
How do I delete all my data?
Go to Settings → Delete All Data. This permanently removes all records from the app and from your iCloud private database. This cannot be undone, so export a backup first if needed.
